About the fund
The John L. Rosa Scholarship Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded to provide scholarships to college bound students that have attended La Escuelita Elementary School in Oakland, CA.
Awarded Oakland Unified School District's "Teacher of the Year", and an energetically fun fifth grade teacher, Mr. John Rosa wanted every child to have the opportunity to go to college. His encouragement began not only with his own family, wife, and sons, but every day in his classroom where students were influenced by teams, pennants, hats, and lots of collegiate pursuasion! As a teacher, he always said that "Learning should be fun", which is an atmosphere he created everyday with character for everyone he taught. John insisted that if he wasn't having fun as a teacher, then his students were not having fun either.
Mr. Rosa has impacted the lives of many youth throughout the Oakland School District. Through the help of many generous donations by his friends, family, and the community, we are excited to continue his enthusiasm for education in his memory.
We THANK YOU for the continued support!
